Fire Safe Europe contributes to the future of European fire safety standards under CPR
On 3 June 2026, Fire Safe Europe participated in the second meeting of the CPR Acquis Expert Group – Horizontal Sub-Group FIRE (SG-FIRE), organised by the European Commission.
The meeting focused on the future European approach to façade fire performance, including testing methodologies, classification systems and future standardisation priorities under the revised Construction Products Regulation.
During the discussions, Fire Safe Europe advocated for performance-based approaches that preserve the value of fire testing data rather than reducing results to overly simplified classifications. The association also highlighted the importance of robust, repeatable and harmonised testing methodologies capable of ensuring comparable results across Europe.
In addition, Fire Safe Europe emphasised the need to give greater consideration to the fire safety of photovoltaic systems, particularly on flat roofs, by promoting system-level testing approaches that better reflect real-life conditions.
As Europe continues to renovate and decarbonise its building stock, Fire Safe Europe will continue to contribute to the development of future European standards and regulations, ensuring that fire safety remains fully integrated into the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.
