Replay now available from the dedicated webinar held during the European Fire Safety Week
During the European Fire Safety Week, Fire Safe Europe, together with RISE Fire Research and Efectis, organised an online event dedicated to the European Guidelines for Fire Safety Inspections. The webinar gathered approximately 250 participants, including inspection bodies, national authorities, researchers, construction industry representatives and insurers from across Europe.
RISE and Efectis presented the main findings of the project, highlighting persistent inconsistencies between national inspection regimes, the variable treatment of passive fire protection, differences in inspector competence, and the growing importance of digital record-keeping throughout the building lifecycle.
The Fire & Rescue Services from Sweden presented a mature national framework combining both technical and organisational inspections, offering a concrete example of an integrated approach to fire safety oversight. ETEX/Promat underlined the strong link between fire safety inspections, product conformity and installation quality, while an inspection body emphasised the cross-country inconsistencies that still exist and called for harmonised reporting formats at European level.
The insurance sector stressed the critical role of inspection quality for risk assessment and insurance premiums, and expressed strong support for the development of a Europe-wide common reference framework.
Participation in the webinar was extremely active and constructive. Several attendees shared national experiences and encouraged Fire Safe Europe to draw on best practices from countries in the further development of the Guidelines.
