A unique opportunity to embed fire safety at the core of Europe’s housing agenda
Yesterday, the European Commission unveiled its first-ever European Affordable Housing Plan, a bold strategy to make housing more affordable, sustainable, and high-quality across the EU. Fire Safe Europe welcomes this initiative and is ready to contribute to its success. We’re especially pleased to see the emphasis on housing quality – homes should be not only affordable but also safe and resilient for the people living in them.
As EU policymakers roll out measures to boost housing supply and renovate buildings, there’s a golden opportunity to embed fire safety into the heart of affordable housing. We believe that affordability and safety go hand in hand. A home can’t truly be “affordable” if a fire risk threatens families’ health, finances, and lives.
Fire Safe Europe is gearing up to work with EU and national stakeholders on this front. We’ll be sharing our expertise in forums like the upcoming European Housing Alliance, offering guidance on fire-safe renovations, and championing policies that keep people safe in their homes.
