Highlighting the critical role of inspections to ensure buildings remain safe over time
At the 4th ELIPYKA International Conference in Athens, Fire Safe Europe brought fire safety inspections to the forefront of the discussion.
On 19th March, our Managing Director, Eugenio Quintieri, presented the outcomes of our European project on building fire safety inspections — a topic that remains critical, yet often overlooked in the broader fire safety landscape.
While fire safety regulations exist across Europe, their implementation and enforcement are still highly fragmented. Ensuring that buildings remain safe over time requires regular, consistent, and high-quality inspections.
Through this project, Fire Safe Europe, RISE Fire Research and Efectis, have developed practical, ready-to-use inspection checklists, a common European framework for inspections, and key recommendations to support harmonisation and better enforcement.
Our objective is clear: move from compliance on paper to real safety in practice.
