Fire Safe Europe announces new leadership for 2026-2028

A renewed mandate to strengthen impact, collaboration and safer buildings across Europe

Fire Safe Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Tanguy Vanderborght (Etex - Promat by Etex) as its new President for the 2026–2028 period. Mr. Vanderborght takes on the Presidency at a pivotal moment for European fire safety. With fire safety gaining increasing recognition within EU housing, renovation and sustainability policies, his mandate will focus on strengthening FSEU’s impact as a trusted European platform for policy dialogue, technical cooperation and advocacy.


Upon his election, Tanguy Vanderborght stated: “It is a great honour to be entrusted with the Presidency of Fire Safe Europe at such an important time for our sector. Fire safety must be fully embedded in Europe’s housing, renovation and sustainability agendas. Together with our members and partners, we will continue to work towards safer buildings across Europe.” 


Alongside the new President, the General Assembly appointed Sriram Makineedi (Hilti Group) as Vice-President of Fire Safe Europe. Mr. Makineedi brings strong international experience and a results-driven approach to the leadership team and will actively support the Presidency in the strategic development of the organisation. The General Assembly also confirmed the election of the following Board Directors:


  • Shiraz Dromi Z. (Knauf Insulation)

  • Viljanen Petri (Owens Corning - PAROC)

  • John Garbutt (Kingspan Insulation)

 

Together, the new leadership brings a balanced mix of technical expertise, industry leadership and European engagement, reinforcing FSEU’s mission is to improve fire safety in buildings for people and society.


This meeting also marked the final Board session for Paul Langford (Hilti Group) and Mark Leverton (Knauf Insulation), both of whom have served as Presidents of Fire Safe Europe over the years. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental in strengthening FSEU’s voice in Europe and in building a stronger, more united fire safety community. Fire Safe Europe warmly thanks them for their dedication and their significant contribution to the organisation’s growth and mission.
